| About us & what we do |
|
About us In February 2004 Stage-Combat.de was established by Matthias Fittkau and Dörte Jensen. We are dedicated to stage combat, particularly stage combat in the German speaking countries. Stage combat is the art of portraying violence for stage and screen. Of utmost importance in stage combat is keeping the actors safe while at the same time providing the audience with an illusion of danger. We coordinate stage combat workshops with teachers from all over the world. We choreograph fights and teach stage combat in Germany. Stage-Combat.de strives to be a platform and network for stage fighters nationally and internationally. Click |

Our staff Dörte Jensen is one of the co-founders of Stage-Combat.de and one half of Jensen/ Fittkau GbR.Originally from the very north of Germany she lived in Freiburg (the very south west of the country) for the past seven years to study. Recently Dörte moved to Lüdenscheid (one hour from Cologne) to start working as a medical doctor. The stage combat bug infected Dörte while at a stage combat summer school in London in the year 2000. Since that time Dörte helped founding a stage combat and re-enactment group in Freiburg, spent a lot of time at workshops abroad and coordinated several stage combat workshops in Freiburg inviting a variety of teachers from all over the world. With Stage-Combat.de Dörte is responsible amongst other things for coordinating workshops, website content and communications. She teaches stage combat and choreographs fights for stage combat groups and theatre. Please follow the link to view

Helge Landmesser is one of Stage-Combat.de freelance supporters. Helge seriously got involved with stage combat in the year 2002. Since that time he has participated in many workshops in Germany and abroad, and helped with the running of some. His favourite "toys" are the rapier, preferably supplemented by a left-hand weapon (dagger, cloak, another rapier) and the smallsword. Currently Helge lives and works in St. Gallen, Switzerland, where he works at a research institute studying wood coatings. In the future he would like to start a stage combat group in the area of St. Gallen. For Stage-Combat.de Helge is involved in the coordination and running of workshops. He teaches stage combat and helps with the website. Please follow the link to view

Workshops- We offer stage combat workshops in Germany with a length between two and ten days. Stage-Combat.de invites experienced teachers from around the world to teach a variety of classes. Among others we have had workshops on rapier & dagger, medieval broadsword, unarmed combat, quarterstaff, smallsword as well as an introduction into fight directing. We are particularly proud that Tony Wolf (Cultural Fighting Styles Design for Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings") and Richard Ryan (Swordmaster for Wolfgang Petersen's "Troy") have taught at our workshops. Click Instruction- The staff of Stage-Combat.de offers stage combat instruction for drama schools, actors, re-enactors and everybody who is interested. According to your personal needs the content and extent of what you will learn can be adapted (ranging from an introductory class to longer workshops or regular classes). Please Fight Directing- Even something seemingly as simple as a slap to the face needs careful staging and practise! Be it a hair pull, a rapier duel, a tavern brawl or a mass battle: we are here to help you with the violent outbursts in your production. Stage-Combat.de will come up with a concept based on your ideas, develop the choreography and teach it to the performers. Please Performance- Do you need a performer trained in stage combat? Possibly someone who should provide their own costume and weapons? Would you like a performance at a party, festival or renaissance fair? Please Networking and resources- Stage-Combat.de would like to promote the exchange of ideas between German and international stage combatants and fight directors. In the near future we will be providing a forum, links and downloads.
